Pest Control Runs In Our Family

Family owned and operated since 1954, Bill Spencer started a company and a legacy that has continued for three generations.  Today, Spencer’s daughter, Sheri Spencer Bachman leads the company.  Her daughter, Laura Corbin, has followed in the family’s footsteps and manages the operations, residential and commercial accounts.  Spencer Pest Services is licensed to provide pest control in South Carolina, North Carolina, and Georgia.

Meet The Spencer Family 

Spencer is still a family owned business. As the current owner, Sheri embraces new ideas and the latest advances in environmentally friendly technologies that are being created around the world and adds that “female touch” to how our services are performed.

She continues the company’s dedication to new eco-friendly technologies and has made the Spencer name synonymous with unparalleled customer service. She’s a certified pest control operator in the states of South Carolina, Georgia, and Florida and has been on the NPMA board twice. Currently, Sheri sits on the NPMA QualityPro Board to ensure Spencer Pest Services continues to meet high quality standards for business operations, testing, training, environmental stewardship, and customer service.

Sheri is also an active member of her community, holding a seat on the Leukemia Lymphoma Society (LLS) Executive Committee, remaining actively involved in Greater Woman’s Business Council (GWBC), and sitting on the diplomat committee and co-chairs WBE Connect.

Sheri is a proud mother of four, and has four wonderful grandkids. A pet lover, she also is mom to her dog, Maddie.

Sheri’s daughter followed in the family’s footsteps. Laura manages the operations, residential and commercial accounts at Spencer Pest Services. She came to work for the company in 2010 as Quality Control services and took over as operation manager in 2012.  In 2016, Laura was promoted to Chief Operating Officer.

Laura is on the NPMA Leadership Development Group board and is actively involved in the NPMA PWIPM group where she received a scholarship in 2012.

Like her mother, Laura has been involved with the Leukemia Lymphoma Society (LLC) and sat on the board for three years. She’s also involved in the South Carolina and North Carolina Greater Woman’s Business Council, both on the certification committee and as a diplomat.

Laura won the 2019 Manager of the Year Award through the South Carolina Pest Control Association SCPCA.

Laura is happily married to her husband Evan, and they have two sons Mason and Wyatt.  Her family also includes her two dogs, Dottie and Lucy,  who make an appearance in the office from time to time.

 

Spencer Pest Services Was Green Before Green Was a “Thing”

Bill Spencer was a pioneer in the pest control business.  His goal was to take the “bug man” stigma out of the business.  He accomplished this by employing, hiring and training Service Professionals that delivered a higher level of customer service and that resolved pest infestations using new technologies that were being created around the country and the world.  

Before there was a word for it, Bill Spencer had turned Spencer Pest Services into a green company.  In fact, he foresaw the approach most companies use today and that is acknowledging that every structure has its own unique problems and requires custom solutions and a multi-layered approach of different methodologies. 

Rather than just point and spray chemical at the problem, Bill knew it was far more effective to find how and why pests were getting in and to find a solution that eliminated pests AND kept them from returning.

Having grown up in the industry, Sheri has always been a student of the industry. She started working for her father in 1990, took over operations in 2005 and bought the business in 2011. Early on, she embraced the latest advances and environmentally friendly technologies the company continues to champion today.  She has also taken customer service to the next level. 

As busy parents, she and Laura both understand the time constraints of homeowners and their need for on-time service and parental concerns for kid, pet and eco-friendly pest solutions.  

As business people, the bug ladies are fiercely adamant about detailed documentation and 24/7 service today’s business owners and managers expect and demand.
