Pest Control for a Cure was founded in honor of my father Bill Spencer, founder of Spencer Pest Control now doing business as Spencer Pest Services.
My dad was diagnosed with Sarcoma cancer, the rarest form of adult cancers, in September 2006 at which time he was informed he might have 2 weeks left to live. His battle with cancer ended in February of 2012. Although it was a tough time for all of us, we now have comfort in knowing that he is finally cancer and pain free!
He had a positive attitude through all of it, most of the time better than the rest of us! During this time he was an inspiration to many, giving others the strength to endure their battle.
In experiencing his journey, I have realized the affect cancer has on everyone. Most individuals have been touched by the horrible disease in some form; whether it be themselves or through a loved one. Cancer has no discrimination- it attacks all ages, ethnicities, and faiths.
Because I have personally endured the affects cancer has on so many people, I wanted to create a way to help others. In my will to give back, I created Pest Control for a Cure.
Spencer's Pest Control for a Cure program donates $50 to the cancer non-profit of the customer's choice when they sign up for a new service. It also gives our customers the chance to share their stories with us as well as help individuals fund-raise for events such as Relay for Life, the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society and Susan G Komen for the Cure.
